Thomas Moore
The Ferns of Great Britain and Ireland

This collection was produced in London in 1855 by the difficult and laborious nature printing process. Each engraving plate was made from a plaster cast of an actual plant for the purpose of exact botanical illustration. The colors were printed by making as many impressions as there are colors to be shown.  The use of this expensive method was very limited.
